The Force Returns
Here's one reason why I've been away from the blog for the last week and a half. A little assignment, I took on for Parade.com Should have some other book news soon.

In 2004 I realized there were a lot of big-time, elemental sports events I'd never been to. So I spent one year traveling to the 10 greatest sports events, or at least the 10 that topped my list and wrote a book about the experience. This blog is a rolling update of what's happening with the book, the events and the evolution of the list.

- I've worked as a magazine editor and writer for the last 18 years, the last four as a Senior Editor at Sports Illustrated where I work (mostly) on golf. Although I wrote a lot about golf before arriving as SI, I was never really a sportswriter and therefore arrived at the magazine with my fandom more in tact than many seasoned sports scribes. It was the combination of my fan's appreciation for the games and the prospect of working for the foremost sports magazine in the world that in part inspired the book, Fanatic, and this blog.
